Why I keep Everclear in my pantry

Everclear is high-proof grain alcohol in some states it's only allowed to be sold at 70% but in others, you can get it as high as 90% alcohol even at the lower percentage it's extremely useful to have around. Being such a high alcohol percentage it's extremely good at killing bacteria that makes it pretty much a food grade Isapropal alcohol. Now I'm not saying you should be using that one for cuts or wounds could you use it for that if you had no other option, maybe. I use it in food prep primarily for jarring and bottling. Since its a pretty much a food-grade disinfectant you can clean the rims of your jars and bottles with a paper town dabbed in Everclear. Give each of your jars and lids a good once over with it being sure to not leave any behind and not touch where you just cleaned. This will give you an extra amount of confidence that your food will not spoil after you jar it. Some may worry about leaving a taste or somehow making your jarred soup alcoholic but with that little of an amount you don't have anything to worry about.
